The Christ, The Son of God

"Christ" is the New Testament word for the Messiah, the anointed ruler predicted in the Old Testament. "Son of God" refers to Jesus' special relationship to the Father - a unique position no one else has - the only begotten Son (John 3:16). Did Jesus claim such positions? Matthew 16:13-18 - Jesus rejected as inadequate the claims that He was just a prophet. But when Peter confessed Jesus to be the Christ, the Son of the Living God, Jesus said that the Father Himself had revealed this to Peter. [John 6:69] John 4:25,26 - Jesus acknowledged to the Samaritan woman that He was the Messiah (Christ). John 9:35-37 - He told a blind man whom He had healed that He was the Son of God. Matthew 26:63-66 - During His trial in the presence of His enemies, Jesus acknowledged that He was the Christ, the Son of God. In addition, He allowed various other disciples to make such claims for Him (John 11:27; Matt. 14:33; John 1:29,34,49). Did any other true prophet ever make su...

Seek God In 2011

If you are reading this post, that means that you are still alive.  You have made it to 2011 and we owe this life to no one else but God Almighty.  Every new year, my song remains the same; Because God lives I can face tomorrow, because He lives all fears are gone, because I know who holds the future, then my life is worthwhile because He lives. Are you afraid to face tomorrow? Are you contemplating suicide?  This is not the option my friends.  You need to draw nigh to God according to James 4:8-10, and He will draw nigh to you.  Cleanse your hand and purify your hearts.  Just humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up. In James 4:13-15, He says, ask and it shall be given you; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened.  The final analysis is that, if you ask God, you shall receive, and if you seek, you shall find, and if you knock, the door will be opened unto you. The most important thing is that you must seek Him...

Jesus Is The Reason For The Season

Jesus is the reason for the season.  Christmas, is people coming together, remembering the birth of Jesus and how he came to save His people from their sin, giving and sharing, especially to the needy.  Praise God because of Him we have a blessed hope that we can live above sin. Due to the harsh economic strain, people all over the world have realized that shopping will have to be cut this year to facilitate savings.  But it is time for us to realize that Christmas was not meant for this commercialization that takes place everywhere.  Some of these spending are unnecessary and therefore because many of us have been restrained this year, it is obvious that the past years we could have enjoyed Christmas without much of the fanfare. Today, let us focus a little on the wise men.  They traveled for months under difficult circumstances to spend some time worshiping the Christ child.  The journey for us also is difficult at times.  Some of us anxiety is our...

Why did Jesus fold the linen burial cloth after His Resurrection?

The Gospel of John (20:7) tells us that the napkin, which was placed over the face of Jesus, was not just thrown aside like the grave clothes. The Bible takes an entire verse to tell us that the napkin was neatly folded and was placed at the head of that stony coffin. Early Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved.     She said, 'They have taken the Lord's body out of the tomb, and I don't know where they have put him!'  Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see. The other disciple out ran Peter and got there first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen cloth lying there, but he didn't go in. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside.     ...

STONE

TWO FRIENDS WERE WALKING THROUGH THE DESERT. DURING SOME POINT OF THE JOURNEY, THEY HAD AN ARGUMENT, AND ONE FRIEND SLAPPED THE OTHER ONE IN THE FACE . THE ONE WHO GOT SLAPPED WAS HURT,  BUT WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING, WROTE IN THE SAND - "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE . " THEY KEPT ON WALKING, UNTIL THEY FOUND AN OASIS, WHERE THEY DECIDED TO TAKE A BATH. THE ONE WHO HAD BEEN SLAPPED GOT STUCK IN THE MIRE AND STARTED DROWNING, BUT THE FRIEND SAVED HIM. AFTER HE RECOVERED FROM THE NEAR DROWNING, HE WROTE ON A STONE- "TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE." THE FRIEND WHO HAD SLAPPED AND SAVED HIS BEST FRIEND ASKED HIM - 'AFTER I HURT YOU, YOU WROTE IN THE SAND AND NOW, YOU WRITE ON A STONE, WHY?' THE FRIEND REPLIED 'WHEN SOMEONE HURTS US WE SHOULD WRITE IT DOWN IN SAND, WHERE WINDS OF FORGIVENESS CAN ERASE IT AWAY.   BUT, WHEN SOMEONE DOES SOMETHING GOOD FOR US, WE MUST ENGRAVE IT IN STONE WHERE NO WIND CAN EVER ERASE IT.' Make Right With God Before It's Too Late

A man who was named Noah warned the people about the Flood.  He did so for 120 years.  However, the people continued in their ways.  During all this Noah obeyed God's instruction and built an ark. The people continued in their ways until the flood came and overtook them.   When they saw what was happening they were now ready to heed the warning but it was too late, they all drowned. Noah, his wife, his three sons and wives along with the animals and fowls of every kind were saved, but men whom God created in His own image perished because they never made it right with God. The same thing is applicable today.  God continues to speak to us, He continues to warn us, but we still ignore His warning.  His Word reminds us in Matthew 24:37, "But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." Continuing to verse 44 of the same chapter, it reads, "Therefore, be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man com...

The Power Of The Word

For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of joints ans marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. The word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.  I will delight myself in thy statues, I will not forget thy word. How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!  Through thy precepts I get understanding, therefore I hate every false way.  Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
