The Humanity Of Christ

In order to be the Saviour. Jesus had to be not only Divine and virgin-born, but He must also be a true man.  He was like us in every respect except sinful.  The phrase Son of man emphasizes His humanity and this occurs 77 times in the Bible.  He was given a human name according to Matt.1:21, "Thou shalt call His name Jesus."  He had  a human ancestry.  To get a kitten you must have cat parents.  So Jesus had a human parent in the person of His mother, Mary.  The genealogy in Matthew 1:1-16 traces the ancestry from Abraham to Christ. Jesus possessed a physical nature because in John 1:1-14, "and the Word was made flesh (human nature), and dwelt among us."  He was also subjected to the laws of human development. He grew, He asked questions, He increased in in wisdom, He learned obedience, He suffered, He worked as a carpenter and he was tempted.
