The Calm After The Storm

I am always amazed, if not petrified about all the extravagant spending, the revelry, the parties, the stress and pressure of acquiring material goods, all centered on one day, Christmas Day.  Today, I am sure that many are now reeling at the excessive drinking and eating, the left overs that seem too much even for the dogs, and the dread of facing the year 2010 with surmountable bills, hundreds of dollars short, due to this festive season. Oh why do we keep making the same mistake year after year?  Is it the pressure of society? Is it the influence in the rise of vibrant advertisement of the merchants and capitalists who take away people's hard earn money? When will we learn and understand the blessed secret of delighting in God's will, welcoming the Gift He sent for us, His Son, Jesus Christ, to save all men from their sins?  The baby in the manger was the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiven
